What to Expect at Your First Orthodontic Appointment
At JMG Orthodontics, we want your first visit to be relaxed, informative, and stress-free. From the moment you arrive, our friendly team will guide you through every step so you feel comfortable and confident about your orthodontic journey.
When you arrive, you’ll check in at the front desk before being escorted to take initial screening X-rays. Both the consultation with Dr. Griffies and these X-rays are complimentary—no fees are involved. You’ll also have the chance to meet our caring staff, get to know our office, and learn more about the treatment options available to you.
Preparing for Your Appointment
To help us start your visit without delay, please complete the patient information form before you arrive. This form is available on our website or in the packet we sent you. Bringing completed paperwork ensures we can focus on your care, not the paperwork.
If you have orthodontic insurance coverage, please bring all necessary forms and documents with you. It may be helpful to call your insurance company in advance and ask:
Do I have orthodontic coverage?
What are my benefits?
Is a pre-treatment estimate required?
Does the insurance company pay automatically?
This information allows us to assist you in making the most of your orthodontic benefits.
Meeting Dr. Griffies
Once your X-rays and forms are complete, you’ll move to one of our consultation rooms. There, photographs will be taken and Dr. Griffies will perform a detailed examination. He will determine whether you or your child are ready for orthodontic treatment, and if so, what options are best suited to your needs. In some cases, treatment may be postponed until the timing is just right for optimal results, such as after certain teeth have erupted or additional growth has occurred.
